Otego, NY - OTEGO - Mary Montrym Donnelly, 83, passed away June 6, 2025 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

She was born May 3, 1942 in Schenectady, the daughter of William and Sadie (Scabar) Montrym.

Mary married William A. Donnelly on Aug. 21, 1965 in Scotia.

Mary graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a teaching degree. She began working at the Oneonta School District and Walton Central School. She retired from the Unatego School District where she was a devoted first grade teacher at Otego Elementary School.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was an artist in the kitchen, making wonderful and delicious meals. She was also an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, William A. Donnelly; son, William A. Donnelly Jr. and wife, Alison, of Tampa, Florida and their children, Shayla and Liam; daughter, Ann M. Donnelly of Brandon, Florida; sister, Dolores Tyler; nieces and nephew, Sarah Hilsendagher, Jill LaFrank, Timothy Reedy and Jill Soto; brother-in-law, Thomas and Dotty Donnelly; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; infant daughter, Mary Ellen Donnelly; sister, Elizabeth Reedy; and sister-in-law, Peggy Burns.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Christopher Welch as celebrant.

Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City will be at a later date.

There will be no calling hours.
