Mary Jane Jackson
RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Mary Jane Jackson, 63, passed away on Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, 2019, in Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side.
Mary was born on Aug. 5, 1956, in Amsterdam, daughter of the late Victor B. and Dorothy R. Damulis.
A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.
On August 25, 1979, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald William Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson worked as a certified nursing aide at The Meadows Nursing Facility in Cooperstown, where she touched many lives. She retired in November 2017, following 35 years of dedicated service.
Mary had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Catholic life. To those who knew her, she was a caring, loving and helpful lady who enjoyed doing for others while looking for nothing in return. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren. A totally dedicated family woman, she will be truly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Donald; a daughter, Jill Jackson of Richfield Springs; one son, Jonathan Jackson and his wife, Elsie of Cooperstown; one brother, Anthony Damulis and his wife, Darlene of Burlington Flats; two sisters, Martha Andrews and her husband Steven of Schenectady and Rosina VanDeWall of Watertown; grandchildren, Clifton Mercer and Cameron Mercer, both of Richfield Springs, and Julian Jackson of Cooperstown; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours for Mrs. Jackson will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Richfield Springs, with Pastor Silvaster Sarihaddula officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
