EARLVILLE - Matthew Patrick Sullivan, 39, of Earlville, formerly of Morris, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2022, with his family by his side.

Matt or "Matty Pat" as he was affectionately known, was a gregarious guy who you could always count on for a smile and a positive exclamation. Matt was a proud and true fan of his father Bill Sullivan, Syracuse University football, and the game of Uno, in that order.

He loved people, was a gifted conversationalist, and always had the perfect one-liner or bit of observational humor at the ready.

Matt loved life with his whole being. From his first steps to his last breaths, Matt's light shone bright. His optimism, positivity, and great capacity for hope will be missed by all who knew him.

Matt is survived by his mother, Brigid Sullivan of Morris; siblings, Kelly (Tom) Meyers, Sean (Terri) Sullivan, Jason (Bonnie) Sullivan, Michael (Rebecca) Sullivan, Andy, Tim, Chris, and Kate Sullivan; along with his aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews.

Matt was predeceased by his loving father Bill Sullivan.

Additionally, Matt had extra special and long-lasting relationships with the fabulous four, Alicia Cummings, Dayle Dutcher, Kathy Forgit and Luella Hodges. Every year, Matt looked forward to marching in the Morris Halloween parade with his good friend and coach Gary Jacobsen.

For the Sullivans, family extends well beyond blood lines and Matt's reach was wide. Growing up Matt formed and maintained special bonds with many during his days at Morris Central School, Holy Cross Church, and through Springbrook's Saturday recreation and respite services.

Four years ago, Matt moved to Earlville and discovered independence, friendship, and true joy in his housemates and direct support professionals. Among his treasured friends and champions in Earlville were Linda Brooks, Diana Johnson, Bryce Marvin, and Kim Smith. If you had the pleasure of knowing Matt, then you are blessed with memories of his antics.

The family appreciates the space to mourn through a private remembrance at this time. A formal celebration of life will take place in the future.
