Maureen S. Greeley
ONEONTA - Maureen S. Greeley passed peacefully Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at home with much of her family present.
She was born on June 29, 1930, in Oneonta, to Morris E. and Eva K. (Burrell) Howey.
After attending grade school in Sidney and Oneonta, she graduated from Oneonta High School in the Class of 1947.
Maureen married James E. Greeley on Aug. 7, 1949, in Oneonta, a union that lasted more than 70 years.
Maureen was employed in the office of the family business, Holbrook and Howey Electric Company, for more than 25 years. She also worked at Key Bank in Oneonta for more than 15 years as a teller and teller trainer.
Maureen enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, word games and gardening, but was happiest cooking a meal for the whole family. Her holiday meals were known not only for their quality, but also for their quantity. We always accused her of trying to feed an army.
Maureen is survived by her husband, James; her children, Karen Voltz, Michael Greeley (Nanette) and Jacqueline Blakelock; her grandchildren, Shawn Aitchison, Clancy Aitchison (Lisa), Elizabeth Voltz, Monica Sizemore (Joshua), Timothy Greeley (Alexandra) and Lauren O'Malley; her great-grandchildren, Autumn Aitchison, Liam Aitchison, Elle Aitchison, Aedan Jumper, Teagan Greeley, Conor O'Malley and Jack O'Malley; and sister-in-law, Audrey Howey.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jack B. Howey.
Friends are invited to greet the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, where a service will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place in the spring in Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family acknowledges the outstanding, compassionate care given to Maureen over the past year by her aides Jeanine, Michele, Katie, Saysha, Milly, Kathy and Chrissy, who became part of the family, and Helios Care, formerly Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Charity, Jamie and Jen.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Maureen's name to Helios Care, 297 River St. Service Road, Suite 1, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Dear Mr. Greeley,
Praying for you and your family at this difficult time. I have fond memories of my time chatting with Mrs. Greeley as she tended to her beautiful gardens when I would be in Oneonta visiting my daughter Amy.
