YORK, S.C. - Melinda Hall Ackerson passed away at her home in York, South Carolina, on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the age of 63 of an apparent heart attack.

Melinda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Scott Ackerson. They were married in Oneonta on Dec. 23, 1973.

Melinda is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Stacie Robbins Cravens, son-in-law, Brian Cravens of Houston, Texas; son, Eric Ackerson, daughter-in-law, Jihad Ackerson of Charlotte, North Carolina, son, Joel Ackerson of Sparks, Nevada; grandchildren, Jala Ackerson, Carter and Natalie Cravens and Kaden Ackerson; sister, Katherine Hall Larson and brother-in-law, Orlan Larson of Venice, Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melinda was born in Austin, Texas on Feb. 6, 1953. She graduated from Oneonta Senior High School in 1971 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta.

Melinda was a health kinesiologist and lived to help others achieve physical and psychological wellness.

She loved to travel with her husband Scott and is missed by her granddaughters, especially for the times they spent reading, cooking and sewing.

Above all, Melinda Ackerson loved to spread joy.
