OTEGO - Michael C. Hitchcock, 39, of Otego passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024 at home.

He was born May 28, 1985 in Oneonta the son of Richard Hitchcock and Kathrina Snyder McMorris.

Michael graduated from Laurens Central School the class of 2003. Following graduation, he attended SUNY Canton for construction. While at Canton, Michael was part of the team that built Habitat for Humanity Houses at the college, and then they were transported to different locations. He was a member of Delta Theta Gamma fraternity.

For a short time, he worked at Mirabito and Burt Rigid Box.

He had a knack for cooking and was a wonderful cook. He loved cooking for his family and friends. Michael had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to you if you needed it.

Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathrina and Patrick McMorris; father and stepmother, Richard and Shawn Hitchcock; his daughters Brooke and Haileigh Hitchcock; sister Shanna Hitchcock; step siblings Shannon Huffman, Justin Durand and Leigh Grove; fiancé Naomi Bowen; grandma Marge McMorris; grandfather Frank Snyder; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by beloved best four-legged friend, Toby.

Calling hours will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation in Michael's memory be made to either Your Safe Haven, 18 Elm St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, 46610 NY-10, Delhi, NY 13753.
