WEST ONEONTA - Michael A. Thorsland, 75, of West Oneonta, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022.

Michael was born on Oct. 16, 1946, in Oneonta, a son of the late Casper and Joyce (Parslow) Thorsland.

On April 4, 1969, he married the love of his life, Barbara Hitchcock.

Mike was employed by the Town of Oneonta as a deputy in the highway department.

He also served in the Army National Guard for 22 years.

He enjoyed hunting at the "home farm" in Otego, tending to his beautiful vegetable gardens, canning various vegetables and meats and making jams and jellies.

Michael is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; children, Gerri (Brandon) Jones and Chad (Miriam) Thorsland; grandchildren, Brianna (Ryan) Thompson, Landon Jones and Jilleen Thorsland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Martin, Eric and Jon Thorsland; and sister, Sonja Davies.

His services will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
