NEW LISBON - Mildred E. Douglas, 92, of New Lisbon, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home.

She was born in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 8, 1930, the daughter of LaGrande and Leona (Lowe) Olin.

Mildred married Gordon A. Douglas in Hartwick, on March 17, 1949. They were married more than 55 years.

Mildred was a very talented seamster. She worked for many years at Schneider's Bakery in Cooperstown and worked with her husband on their tree farm.

Mildred enjoyed many hobbies including needlepoint, hooked rugs and quilting. She was an avid collector of Christmas ornaments and figurines.

Mildred was a member of the Good News Girls, Women's Club of Garrattsville and Methodist Church of Morris.

Mildred is survived by a sister-in-law, Joanne Douglas Long; as well as nieces and a nephew; Diane Gregory, LuAnne Harris, Lynne (Ray) Gorton, Laurene (Billy) Gray and Christopher Douglas.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon A. Douglas; sister-in-law, Nadine E. Scriverner and brothers-in-law, Richmond L. Douglas and James F. Scrivener.

It was Mildred's request that services and burial be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mildred's memory to the Garrattsville Fire Department/Emergency Squad, 4413 St. Hwy. 51, Garrattsville, NY 13342.

Mildred's family has entrusted her care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home, 60 Broad St., Morris.
