Nelson O. Teed Obituary

MORRIS - Nelson Ostrander Teed, 91, a longtime Morris resident, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born the son of Earl and Tillie (Weiss) Teed on Feb. 29, 1932, in Cannonsville.

He graduated with the Class of 1950 from New Berlin Central School.

Nelson had various occupations over the years including driving bread truck for Durkee's, farming, plowing snow and driving school bus for Morris Central School. However, he is probably best known for his excavation work when he owned his local business, Nelson Teed Excavating.

He enjoyed playing as much as working including hunting, harness racing, bowling, playing pool and almost any card or board game.

He was involved with many organizations including Odd Fellows in South New Berlin, Morris Grange, Morris Pony Club; serving as director of the Otsego County Fair, and as a Hillington Cemetery Association board member. He was one of the founding members of the Otsego Snowmobile Club.

He was known by many for his jovial, friendly, stubborn, but easy-going personality. Nelson enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nelson is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 39 years; daughters, Rosemarie (Jeffrey) Casale and Priscilla (JT)Thompson; stepchildren, Timothy (Cecilia) Teed, Rebecca (David) Sickles, Julia (Thomas) Bjorvand; grandchildren, Natalie, Sara, Ian, Shane, Brynn, Jonathan, Brian, Amanda, Robert, Jeffrey, and Connor, great-grandchildren, GG and Avi; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Darlene Teed; brothers-in-law, Charles Wyckoff, Wayne Wyckoff and William DeMun; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends, old and new.

He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Tillie Teed; sister, Arrietta; brothers, Christoph, Truman, and Leon; and sister-in-law, Arlene Wyckoff.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home, 60 Broad St., Morris.

A memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at Christ Episcopal Church, 166 Marion Ave., Gilbertsville, will be followed by a luncheon.

Burial will be private at the family's convenience.
