Patricia Ann Burnett Obituary

MOUNT VISION - Patricia Ann Burnett, 70, of Mount Vision, passed away at her home on Friday, April 12, 2024, after battling cancer for six long years.

Patricia was born on Jan. 24, 1954, in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Marshall and Louise (Strong) Dixson.

She married David Burnett on March 31, 2012, after being together for 16 years.

Patricia had many jobs over the years. They included Astrocom Electronics, Custom Electronics, Tri-County Communications, Robynwood Adult Home, and Little Lambs Daycare.

She was part of the Otsego Snow Travelers Club and Sidney Center Rod and Gun Club. She took great pride in going to as many games and activities for all nine of her precious grandchildren. She would make friends with many of the other parents and grandparents on the sidelines and in the stands. Patricia's favorite things were going on cruises to the Caribbean, visiting her "happy place," Turning Stone Casino and playing the slot machines, and her annual vacation to Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband David Burnett, to whom she lovingly referred to as the love of her life and "her hero." Little did she know that she was her family's hero. She was strong and courageous, funny and kind. She taught her daughters and grandchildren to be brave in the face of adversity. Throughout her journey, she had a slogan of being a "tough bit--" and used this to stay optimistic and see the humor in difficult situations. She is also survived by her loving daughters, Stacy (John) Platt, Stephanie (CJ) Fraser and Sara (Rob) Norton. And grandchildren, Michael and Derrick Rose, Addison Platt, Daphne, Keegan, Lainey, and Brenan Fraser, Dax and Kaz Norton, all survive Patricia.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents; and cherished sister, Betty Desmarais. Betty and Patty were only 18 months apart and had always been very close. For most of their adult lives they had a tradition of calling each other every evening at 7 to talk about their day. This was something Patty greatly missed after Betty's passing in 2021.

There will be no services per Patricia's wishes. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

The family gives a special thank you to Bassett Cancer Center, especially her favorite nurse, Natasha Skillen and Dr. Sara Parylo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helios Care, 297 River Street Service Road, Suite 1, Oneonta, NY 13820, or online at www.helioscare.org/donate.

Patricia's family has entrusted her care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
