BAINBRIDGE - Robert C. Matthews, 90, of Bainbridge, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at home, surrounded by family.

Robert was born on Dec. 17, 1931, in Hempstead, son of the late Charles Robert and Ruth (Smith) Matthews.

On Feb. 4, 1956, he married the former Virginia Koch.

Robert worked at BOCES as head custodian in Trout Creek for many years.

He was an artist who enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes. Robert was an avid reader, enjoyed watching painting shows and old movies.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of more than 66 years, Virginia Matthews of Bainbridge; daughter, Marion (Dave) Kramer of Sidney; sons, Kyle (ReAnn) Matthews of Casper, Wyoming, Kirk (Korinna) Matthews of Sidney, Brent Matthews of Bainbridge, Dean (Kathy) Matthews of Jefferson, Troy (Toni) Matthews of Bainbridge, and Craig (Darcy) Matthews of Sidney; grandchildren, Tina, Tommie, Dirk, Robin, Dwight, Chelsey, Devon, Kristy, Shelby, Shyann, Trinity, Connor, Troy, Tiffani, Joshua, Seth and Cameron; brothers, Ken and Gary Matthews; sisters, Gail and Nancy; brother-in-law, Thomas (Hellen) Koch; sisters-in-law, Georgia Bingman and Patricia (Thomas) Wilson, several great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
