MORRIS - Robert Lynn Myers, 80, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2024, at Bassett Hospital. After a lifetime of hard work and years of declining health with the recent discovery of pancreatic cancer he is finally at peace.

He was born in Oneonta on Sept. 1, 1943. Robert was the son of Lynn Myers and Josephine (Wheeler) of Morris.

He graduated from Morris Central School. After graduating he continued working on the family dairy farm on East Side Road in Morris.

In 1965, Robert purchased a brand new John Deere 95 combine and for many years cut thousands of acres of small grains throughout Central NY.

On Nov. 5, 1969, he started shipping milk from the dairy's present location in Morris, which has been in continuous operation for close to 55 years and is still in operation by his sons, Jesse and Micheal.

In 1970, Robert started his own farm equipment dealership R.L. Myers Equipment, specializing in Patz farm equipment. For many years in the 70's and early 80's he was one of Patz's top distributors in the Northeast. The distributorship is still in operation specializing in Graetz and Valmetal equipment.

In 1975, he purchased a New Holland 1890 self-propelled chopper, one of the first in the region and custom harvested many thousands of acres throughout Central NY.

Robert was an active Farm Bureau member and shipped milk to many milk companies throughout his career. He was always well known for hard work and lending a helping hand to all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Gaughan. His children Robert (Deb), Rebecca, Rachel, Jesse (Christina), Michael and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his brother, Wayne.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Lois.

He was laid to rest next to his parents in the family cemetery. The boys will be planning a celebration of life at a later date.

The family thanks his many customers, past employees, and friends for all their support they gave him throughout the years.

His family has entrusted his care to the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris.
