COOPERSTOWN - Robert Kerr "Bob" Quigley of Cooperstown, passed away the morning of Dec. 8, 2023, surrounded by loving family.
Bob was born in Jersey City, on May 2, 1933, to Robert Leo and Dorothy Snyder Quigley. He grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, with his brother, Harvey Chambers Quigley.
He proudly served in the USAF and was stationed in Japan.
Bob enjoyed a successful career with the Glidden Paint company, retiring as regional sales manager.
He married Veronica "Vera" Smith on Nov. 29, 1958.
Married for 65 years, they were the parents of four children, Patricia Lynn (David Soule), Robert Michael (Jennifer), Kevin Patrick (Debbie), and James Peter, "JP," (Kathy); eight grandchildren, Brittany (Daniel), Griffin (Maria), Katie (Walt Tuttle), Matthew, Abbey, Michael, Devin (Alisha), and Jason (Aubrey); and four great-grandchildren, Willa, Graham, Anya and Hampton.
After his retirement, they relocated to Cooperstown, and opened a bed and breakfast.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; youngest son, JP in 1993; and beloved dog, Jamie.
Bob enjoyed family vacations in Ocean City, Maryland, a good game of pinochle, reading and golfing. He was an avid sports enthusiast who followed the NY Giants, Boston Red Sox, University of Maryland basketball and UCONN women's basketball.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you in appreciation of the work of his home caregivers, Joet Clark and Barbara Naber, and gratitude for the support and comfort he received from the nurses and staff at Cooperstown Center.
A military honors service will be held later this year in celebration of Bob's life.
