HARTWICK - Ronald Edward Kane, 72, of Hartwick, passed away Jan. 5, 2025 with family by his side. He was born Nov. 26, 1952 in Cooperstown, to Everett and Carolyn (Bider) Kane. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marilyn, his son Eric Kane of Hartwick, daughter Amy Eichler and husband Daniel II of Sherburne; grandchildren, Aurienna Larson of Hartwick, Lucas and Oliver Eichler of Sherburne, and Braylee Kane of Hartwick; step grandchildren Tanner and Natalie Eichler of Sherburne; siblings, Robert Kane and wife Barbara of Fly Creek, Rahlene Welch and husband Michael of Fly Creek, Rodger Kane and wife Fay of Toddsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron always cherished his time spent volunteering at the Hartwick Fire Department where he served as Chief for many years and took pride in service to his community. He loved driving around the Central NY farm country everyday while working as a Service Technician for Thering's Sales and Service for more than 47 years. The farmers always loved seeing him pull in to save their day at all hours.

He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His most enjoyable love was spending time with his family and teaching them various life skills they use every day. Ron really loved watching his children participate in sports and other activities and as his grandchildren grew, watching them as well.

Ron was an honest man with a heart of gold, a gentleman, a man who would do anything within his power to help someone in need, taking every day in stride and never complaining. He had a way about him that impacted so many people. He inspired everyone who knew him to be better. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

There will be no services held at the present time; a celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later time.
