Rose Marie Schwally Obituary

MILFORD - Rose Marie Schwally, 85, passed away at home March 13, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born May 8, 1939 in Manhattan, the daughter of John and Julia (McGuirk) McDonald.

Rose was proud to be from the South Bronx, graduating from Aquinas High School. She was employed with the New York City School District, where she started as a crossing guard, bus matron, and then retired as a secretary, to raise her three children.

She loved music and cooking. Rose delighted in feeding the "starving" actors at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York City, where she was the concessions manager for 20 years. She thought of those who worked there to be her second family.

She is survived by her children, Rosemary Felle, Laura Schwally and Michael and wife, Janet Schwally; granddaughter, Alyssa Schwally; siblings, Michael McDonald, Margaret Ann and husband, John Shevlin, Kathleen McMullan and Shelia Oliveri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Peter and Philip McDonald.

Visitation and a vigil service was held March 16 at Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 22 in the Calvary Cemetery, 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Woodside.
