Worcester, NY - WORCESTER - Ruth A. Shalor, 78, passed away at home May 2, 2025.
She was born May 9, 1946 in New York City, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Anderson) Young.
Ruth graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady, Class of 1965.
She married Donald N. Shalor March 15, 1969 in Central Bridge.
Ruth worked for the Oneonta Dress Factory and SUNY Oneonta for 21 years, retiring in 2008.
She was passionate in supporting the SPCA in Central Bridge and Cooperstown with weekly visits and donations. Other charities she felt strongly about were veterans organizations, Wounded Warriors and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Ruth was an avid collector of all things Apple and enjoyed gardening.
Ruth was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her family and especially her two beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Shalor; children, Peter Jump and Kevin (Tanya) Shalor; grandchildren, Jacob Jump and Hailey Shalor; brothers, Richard (Melissa) Young, and Peter (Terri) Young; sisters-in-law, Helen Kinch, Betty (John) Smallin, and Marilyn (Larry) Millen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and brother-in-law, Ronald Kinch.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.
