Sharon Ann Baumgardner Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Sharon Ann Baumgardner, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, Dec. 21, 2021, at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

She was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas, daughter of the late John Henry and Marietta Holloway Baumgardner.

Raised in Plainview, Texas, she graduated from Plainview High School.

She graduated from Texas Tech University and received a master's degree in education from the University of Connecticut.

For more than 20 years she taught special education in the Cooperstown Central School District. She retired in 2008.

Mrs. Baumgardner had a strong belief in God and was a devout member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Monastery Church in Jordanville. To all who knew her they will never forget a most devoted, kind lady who had a special love for children and would go out of her way to help anyone, while looking for nothing in return.

In her leisure time she was a master of all trades. Sharon could fix or construct almost anything and was extremely proud of the remodeling she did on her home. She found her relaxation at home was gardening, sewing and being with her family. She will be sadly missed.

Surviving her are two sons and their wives, Johnathan and Holly Curry and David and Elizabeth Curry, all of Melbourne, Florida; three daughters and their husbands, Natalie Marzev and The Very Rev. Ilia Marzav of Cleveland, Ohio, Audrey and Josh Fahey of South Point, Ohio, Martha and her husband, Vyacheslav Bugakov of Hawaii; one brother, John Rudolph Baumgardner and his wife, Mary of Forrest, Virginia; a sister, Alice Morris and her husband, James of Sherman, Texas; 17 cherished grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Rebecca Orcutt.

A funeral service for Mrs. Baumgardner was held last Wednesday at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Monastery Church, Jordanville. Interment followed in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers and planting trees to The Holy Trinity Monastery in her name for prayers to 1407 Robinson Road, P.O. Box 36, Jordanville, NY 13361.
