ANDES - Shirley Balcom, 89, of Andes, passed away peacefully at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Home on Sept. 9, 2022.

Shirley was born on Dec. 7, 1932, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

She moved to Andes as a teen and resided there for the remainder of her life.

Shirley married Clinton Balcom Sr. on Jan. 9, 1949. They were married for 45 years before Clinton's passing in 1993. Shirley was also predeceased by her daughter, Dorothy, in 2019. Additionally, she was predeceased by her sisters, Cheryl Stratton, Betty Weed, Barbara Hopkins and Judy Betts; and brothers, John Beers and Richard Beers.

Shirley is survived by her children, Barbara Ackerley, Clinton Jr., aka Sam Balcom, Ken (Rosemary) Balcom, Ben (Diane) Balcom, and Mary (Dennis) Reinshagen. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ralph (Evette) Garofolo, Paul Garofolo, Cody Ackerley, Casey Ackerley, Wayland (Lucinda) Rider, Angela Rider, Amanda (Joe) Anzalone, Travis (Andrea) Balcom, Megan Balcom, Erin Balcom, Randall Reinshagen, Anna Reinshagen, and Katherine Reinshagen. Shirley was also known as Grandma to 11 great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her siblings, Jane Soderback, Rose Tenewitz, Deborah Smith, Carl Beers, Robert Beers and Terry Beers; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Thursday Sept. 15, at the Presbyterian Church in Andes with her funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial services will immediately follow in Andes Cemetery.
