RICHFIELD SPRINGS - On Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, the Angels came to take Susan Faye (Dingman) Eastwood to be with her husband, Ralph K. Eastwood Jr., who predeceased her on Sept. 21, 2013.
Susan was the daughter of the late Louis and Pearl (Smith) Dingman.
Brothers and sisters and others who predeceased her are Shirley (Dingman) and brother-in-law, Fred Lawyer; Sherwood, known as "Brother" to the Dingman family; Wade and Marian (Mason) Dingman; Dorothea (Haggerty) and Ralph K. Eastwood Sr., father-in-law and mother-in-law; and Marlea (DiPiazza) and Charley Eastwood, brother and sister-in-law.
She is survived by Shirley (Garrison) Dingman, wife of Sherwood; Beverly (Dingman) and Werner Weigel, Lyle and Linda (Ashton) Dingman, Deborah Eastwood, sister-in-law; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Susan was very fortunate to have had longtime friendships in her lifetime and each friend and family member, including those she 'adopted,' were a very special joy to her.
Susan graduated from Springfield High School and then went on to SUNY Delhi for a bachelor's degree in accounting/bookkeeping. Susan married Ralph K. Eastwood Jr. in 1962. They owned a farm on Monticello Road in Richfield Springs. Susan helped various farm households in the area with their bookkeeping needs while working on her own farm. Upon selling the farm, Susan worked for Bosses Livestock Auction, an insurance agency, the John Deere dealership and finally retired from the local car dealership in Richfield Springs. As a result, she knew many businesses and people within the community and would enjoy talking with people wherever she went.
Susan and Ralph had many happy adventures, camping, going to garage sales, attending auctions and vacationing in various locations throughout the U.S. Susan was a strong and independent woman who was far ahead of her time. She will be remembered as a kind and caring person, friend to many and will live in the hearts of those she loved.
Calling hours will be held at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. The Rev.
