SHERBURNE - Thomas J. Grover, 62, of Robinson Road, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 17, 2021, following a three-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Tom was born on Sept. 8, 1958, in Bay Shore, Long Island, a son of the late Edgar "Ed" and Ann Gallagher Grover.

He was a graduate of Worcester High School and the auto mechanic program at BOCES.

Tom established Grover's Auto Service in 1995 and would later be joined by his son, a lifelong dream they both shared.

On April 2, 1983, he married Bobbie Lee Gibbs at the North Norwich Church. It was a loving union of 38 years.

Tom well-known for his gregarious personality who loved taking over the mic whenever he got the chance to do comedy stand-up or sing a song. A gearhead through and through, he was passionate about restoring vintage hot rods with his son, Michael, and was proud sponsor and pit crew member for his son's 33G dirt track racing team. A true family man in every sense, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Bobbie; daughter, and son-in-law, Linsey and Michael Barone of Smyrna; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kirsten Grover of Sherburne; grandchildren, Layne and Kash Barone and Hadlee Grover; sisters, Kathie (Michael) Tiffany of Guilford; Sue Symonds of Norwich (Jerry White of Binghamton); Annie (Jeff) Funk of Watertown; brothers, Michael (Linda) Grover of Watertown; Ed Grover Jr. of Norwich; uncle, Rich (Doris) Gallagher of Coram, Long Island; brothers-in-law, Mitch (Dawn) Gibbs of North Norwich and Jim (Renee) Gibbs of Havertown, Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his in-laws, Robert and Charline Gibbs.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.

Interment will be in North Norwich Cemetery at the convenience of his family.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday before the service.
