Scottsdale, AZ - SCOTTSDALE - Timothy Peter Burgin, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, and respected scientist, passed away July 19, 2025, at the age of 62.
A man of deep Christian faith, Timothy lived his life with integrity, humility, and compassion. His work in organic/materials chemistry science earned him widespread respect, but those who knew him best will remember his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love for God and for his family.
Timothy graduated from Sidney Central School in 1980. He received his undergraduate degree from Juniata College, and went on to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington. He completed postdoctoral studies at University of Carolina, where he deepened his research in organic chemistry. His academic journey reflected his lifelong commitment to learning and discovery.
Timothy was the beloved husband of 27 years to Rebecca, and the proud, devoted father of Daniel and Christian. He was the cherished son of Bryan Burgin and late Dorlyn Burgin. His close bond with his sister, Ronda and brother-in-law, James Sweeney brought great joy to their lives and his.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Timothy's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at The Pines at Covered Bridge Gardens at 1532 Covered Bridge Road in Unadilla.
