Velda Hunter Keator Obituary

ROXBURY - Velda Hunter Keator, 81, previously of Kelly Corners, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady, her residence for the last two years.

Born March 11, 1935, in Margaretville, she was the daughter of Ella and Burt Hunter Sr.

A graduate of Roxbury Central School, Velda worked as an x-ray technician for 40 years at Margaretville Hospital.

Survivors include her three children, Steve and Jim Keator and Carol Keator-Piechnik; three sisters, Rose Bush, Janet Mattice and Betty Bailey; two brothers, Richard and John Hunter; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Allen, Brittany, Nicholas, Justin and Ivy Keator, and Abigayle and Dehlia Piechnik; and one great-grandchild, Bryce Keator.

Velda is predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 30 years, Ward Keator; two brothers, Clinton and Burt Hunter Jr.; and two sisters, Ena and Ruth Hunter.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, followed by services at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
