This sunny-haired girl back now among the butternuts —
GILBERTSVILLE - Wanda Marie Brannick passed in her 10 Vale St., Gilbertsville home of more than 80 years on Nov. 13, 2022, preceded by her beloved mother and dad, Lucy Adelaicle Holbrook Card and Lester Card; natural parents, Nellie Card Young and Harry Merton Young; brothers, Clifford Ernest Young and Karl A. Young; sister, Alfretta Card Thayer; many dear friends, including lifelong Morris Manor Farms pals, Juna Adams Richards and Mary Miller Brennan; and husband since their July 25, 1940 marriage in Yonkers until his death on March 29, 2019, Vincent John Brannick.
Born Feb. 3, 1922, in Morris, Wanda was, in her active years, an incredibly hard worker, ardent PTA volunteer, American Legion Auxiliary, fire department Auxiliary, Episcopal Church Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, Sidney Hospital and more; rearer of five boisterous children; voracious reader; consummate cook and baker; and talented crafter in many fields.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon Dennis and Rebecca Jane, Michael LeRoy and Linda Shirley, Thomas John and Marielea DeMiranda; daughters, Linda Michelle and Jill Marie; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Christ Episcopal Church from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, followed by her funeral service at Christ Episcopal Church, 166 Marion Ave., Gilbertsville, with Father Bill Lytle officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville.
