Stamford - STAMFORD - Wanetta Rose Porter, 91, of Stamford, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home.
Born on Sept. 25, 1930, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Wayman.
Wanetta cleaned homes for several area families. She enjoyed dancing and was a master bargain hunter at local garage and lawn sales.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Porter and an infant daughter, Linda Porter.
Wanetta is survived by her children, Ricky (Maxine) Porter of Prattsville, Reggie (Marlene Wintermute) Porter of Mayfield, Ronnie Porter of Scotia, Randy Porter of South Kortright and Elaine (John) Sobey of Oneonta; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; her companion, Art Wood of Stamford; sister, Patricia VanNortwick of South Kortright; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, at MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday with the Rev. Waylon Bray. Burial will follow in Stamford Cemetery.
