Delhi, New York - DELHI - Willard Armstrong, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022, at his home following a battle with cancer.

Born on Sept. 15, 1933, in Otego, Willard was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Armstrong.

Willard was employed for more than 43 years as a painter for the Delaware County Highway Department Bridge Crew.

He loved being outdoors, hunting and trapping in his younger years and could often be found working outdoors in his spare time, often mowing lawns or performing maintenance and odd jobs for various people around the area. Willard had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He also loved to drive around town.

Besides his parents, Willard was predeceased by his son, Richard Mathewson; and brother, Gerald Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Armstrong of Delhi; children, Brenda (Bill) Wallace of Delhi, Sheri Alwine of Delhi, Serena (Mark) Bishop of Otego, Carol (Stan) Powers of Delhi, Willard (Judith) Armstrong of Otego, Dee (Chris) Maney of Delhi and Jamie Armstrong of Delhi; several grand and great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Armstrong of Hamden, Raymond Armstrong of Walton and Edith Macintyre of Oneonta; the mother of his children, Mabel Olson of Delhi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, at MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 25. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
