William P. Elwood Obituary
ANDES - William P. Elwood, 83, of Andes, passed on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on August 11, 1938, in Central Islip, moved to Shavertown with his family as a young child and then to Andes when Shavertown was dissolved. William was the son of the late Donald and Mary (Cook) Elwood.
William was married to Harriette V. (Cary) Elwood on July 26, 1958. She passed away on April 1, 2013.
A former resident of North Babylon, where he was a pipeline welder with the Local No. 138 International Union of Operating Engineers from 1958 to the present. William moved to Andes in 2000.
William was an avid hunter and enjoyed building custom cars and dune buggies. He was a 40-year member of the pistol clubs; 20 years in Great Cove and 20 years in Delhi. William was also a lifelong member of the Tremperskill Rod and Gun Club.
Besides his wife, William was predeceased by a sister, Marybelle Nohejl.
He is survived by his four children, William Elwood Jr. of Delhi, Cheryl Ann McCue (Steven T. McCue) of Manorville, Lisa Mary Elwood of Lowville and Danny Elwood (Linda Mikulewich) of Andes; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; best friends, Henry Cook and Andy Papadimitropoulos; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi. A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, at St. Anne's Church, Andes.
